Description:

Current research has produced a binary phase of layered nanotubes, where Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes are sheathed by tungsten disulfide (WS2).  The number of WS2 layers can be controlled through the degree of deposition of the tungsten oxide precursor. Researchers have produced the first single-walled WS2 nanotube, which, despite being a coat, can be used to verify the LDOS theory and conduct I-V measurements for single-walled WS2 nanotubes.  These WS2 coated nanotubes can even form the first WS2 cones.
Above is a TEM image of a WS2 nanocone.
