Description:

Cross-sectional SEM image of a carbon nanotube field emission microcathode. The device was fabricated using a single mask, self-aligned process. The carbon nanotubes were selectively grown inside the gate apertures. Such a microcathode exhibits an initial turn-on voltage as low as 9V and a reproducible peak current density of 0.6 mA/cm2 at 40V
